Teen Drawing Workshop

Is your pre-teen or teen curious about drawing? On the last Monday of each month, we will be providing lessons for ages 10 and up on simple drawing techniques. Bring a sketchbook and each month we will focus on a different drawing technique, subject, or theme. Sign up for one or all!

After the Lynda Barry-inspired journaling workshop, we found there is a want for a monthly journaling club. This will be open studio-type journaling and all materials will be provided. Gather your friends, bring our journal, and fill it with sketches, collages, inspiration, paintings, and much more. The club will gather on the first Thursday of each month from 5-7 p.m. in the education wing. Prompts will be given to start your own creative process. The first club meeting is on October 5th.

Father’s Day Tie Dye Fun
$40; $30 Members (Additional shirts/socks can be purchased.)
Come have a fun time with your dad tie tie-dying shirts and socks outside (weather permitting). Each dad and one child will receive one shirt and one pair of socks to Tie Dye. Additional shirts and socks may be purchased at the time of reservation. Your own shirts can be brought as well!
The registration deadline is Friday, May 24 by 5 PM.

Come learn about artist Michael C. Thorpe’s fabric art and the inspiration behind it. We’ll spend some time in his exhibition in the Coe Gallery and then head downstairs to the classroom to make a self-portrait out of fabrics!

Come enjoy a relaxing evening learning the art of quilling. Paper Quilling is the art of cutting paper into long thin strips, rolling and pinching the pieces into different shapes, and gluing the shapes together to form decorative art. We will use a paper quilling tool and you will create your own work of art. We wio this fun workshop in the Coe Gallery on our second floor surrounded by beautiful artwork!

Elementary School Awards Ceremony: 77th Paul Whitener Memorial Student Art Show
The 77th Annual Paul Whitener Memorial Student Art Show: Elementary Division will be on view from April 6-21, 2024. Show your support of these creative young artists at the Awards Reception from 5:30-6:30 PM in the Drendel Auditorium on the SALT Block.

Earth Day (Grades K-6)
$20 / $15 Members
Come create a work of art out of recycled materials. We will talk about how we can intertwine art with saving the earth. All materials will be provided, but if your recycle bin is full, bring a thing or two out of it to make a creation out of. We will let our imagination soar in this fun afternoon workshop.

Judy Covey was an amazing local artist who would paint on wood products. After her recent passing, many of her unfinished wood products were donated to the Education Department by her family. Come enjoy a night of fun by picking out as many pieces as you desire of the donated Covey wood pieces to paint on and make your own creations. All proceeds will go towards future programming in the Education Department.

Shamrock-N-Roll (3rd-6th Grades)

Four Leaf Clovers will give you good luck! There’s gold at the end of the rainbow! Come learn about color theory. Everyone will learn about primary colors and why they are called primary! They will use primary colors to mix up several shades of green and then create shamrock art. They will also create a lucky rainbow with a pot of gold at the end using only red, blue, and yellow paints.
