  • 200-hour yoga teacher training

After retiring from the corporate finance scene in 2024, I decided it was time for me to try “new” things. An avid walker, I also worked out at the gym, a believer in exercise and a healthy lifestyle. But looking for something new and challenging, I walked through the door of Hickory Yoga and Wellness, enrolled in a few yoga classes: Restoration-Hips/Hamstrings, Gentle Yoga & QiGong, Barre Fit, Hatha Flow, Chair Yoga, and Pilates. My life changed immediately. From sitting ten stress filled hours a day behind a computer to the world of breath and movement; balancing mind and body, restoring spirit and emotion; I was totally invested. So much so, that with only a few months of practicing, I enrolled in the 200-hour teacher training course offered by everyone Yoga, instructor Bonnie Bradford, E-RYT 500. One year after beginning my personal yoga journey, I received my 200-hour Yoga Alliance Hatha teaching certification.

Soon after completion, I began substituting for some of the instructors at Hickory Yoga and Wellness and Highland Recreation Center. In the fall of 2025, I began teaching my own yoga class at Hickory Yoga and Wellness, incorporating a gentle Hatha flow, movement, stretching, and quiet meditation. Creating an atmosphere of positive encouragement and reflective movement is very important to me. Passionately, I believe as we connect our mind, body, and breath, we can explore our strength, balance and flexibility and it is my desire to inspire and challenge life-changing awareness with this connection. With a positive outlook, I encourage my students to open their heart and seek a mindful intention, while creating joy and self-awareness in a compassionate, judgement free space. It is my desire to inspire others, by practicing yoga in a fun and safe environment. By combining a gentle flow and a restorative spirit, I desire to foster trust and genuine care. So, BE INSPIRED! Celebrate your body with mindful movement.

When I’m not teaching or participating in yoga classes, you may find me on my deck with a book in my hand, joined by my two furry babies, Zaxby and Zoelie. I am the mom of twins, stepmom to three others, and blessed “grandmommy” to 10 grandchildren. Besides yoga, reading, and attending numerous sports events of my grandkids, I also enjoy the ocean, the mountains, visiting NC wineries and I am a huge Carolina Panthers fan! Also, I am a certified photographer. I love photographing people from birth to 100 and capturing the amazing nature surrounding us.
